Theater Class

Today in theater class we got to go outside because it is a very nice day! Today we made up commercials with random items. We are going to do a performance  for our classes. The people in my group are Noah, Leah and Channa. My group is doing a commercial about a jellyfish catcher. I think our commercial is very silly. Making commercials is so fun. Our commercial goes, [Me] Have ever wanted a jellyfish catcher? [Channa] It’s so hard to catch jellyfish with my hands. [Me] Then get the all new jellyfish catcher! [Me] It’s only $5.99 you can find it at Walmart and Target. [Leah] It’s so easy to catch jellyfish now!

School

In 2nd grade you do a mezzuzah program where you bring a Jewish item. I brought a picture of my family’s tree of life figure thing. Then we made mezzuzahs  out of clay. I hope we glaze them soon! We also made papyrus paper with the first graders for our Egypt unit in collaboration. After we made the papyrus paper and it was dry and ready we wrote words in hieroglyphics. I wrote MJDS. In writers I finished my nonfiction book. We will be doing personal narratives. In reading we are doing poetry. In art class we are doing weaving. I love school!

School

In second grade we do the readathon.  We count how many minutes we read that week the next week. I have read 95 minutes this week. We are doing the abc countdown so far we have had author day we brought a book written by our favorite authors, bubble day we blew bubbles at recess but I had theater class during recess, and today is chalk day we get to play with chalk at recess. In writing I am done writing my book about opossums I still have to illustrate the one page of my book. In reading we are reading super magazine it is a magazine for kids. In math we are doing 3 digit numbers adding and subtracting with equations and word problems. There is only 11 days until it is my birthday. Yesterday in art class Gev. Paratt read us a story about weaving and we started some weaves. Today we had a town meeting about who put blue goo on the throne his punishment was that there would be video cameras in the classroom and if he gets caught he has to take 10 minutes of recess off only for him he does not do this because it is not real at all.

School

Here is a picture of  the Eiffel  Tower that me and my group made we made it out of spaghetti and play dough and tacki glue and card stock.

In math we are doing addition and subtraction with numbers up to 4 digits we are also using hundreds tens and ones. We moved houses and items today I kept the items Yael kept the house. In art class we made puppets and we finished them recently. I stared to draft my book about opossum I finished my introduction and almost finished my description page. In reading we were reading super magazine and there was a packet to go with it. There is a new osmo game called pizza co I think it is very fun!

Secrets Of Ms. Snickle’s class

In story we were reading Secrets of Ms. Snickle’s Class. These are the characters Eva, Lacy, Nathan, Denis, Oliver, Ms. Snickle and Haley. It is about a class with a crazy teacher and a crazy rule the rule is no telling secrets so you can tell a friend a secret but you can not tell everybody. Eva’s secret is that she used to be a swan but now she is a little girl and she can talk to pigeons and she lives in a playground. Haley’s secret is she is allergic to secrets. Denis’s secret is that his mom is the tooth fairy. Nathan’s secret is that he likes his sister. Lacy’s secret is that she is actually a nice person. Ms. Snickle’s secret is that she can turn her classroom into her apartment. I really liked Secrets of Ms. Snickles Class!

Secret Friend

In our community project our mayor decided to do a thing called secret friend. Today we picked a slip of paper with someone’s name on it. But I can’t say who I got because that person could see this post and I don’t want them to know so I will tell you who I got when I get home. Here are some things that I can do for  my secret friend I could make a card for them, I could give them a craft that I made, I could draw them a picture, I could ask for a play date. I could give them something small like a pencil, an eraser, a sticker, a book that I’m done reading or a flower. I could also do things for them like write them a kind note or ask them to sit next  to me at lunch or ask them to play with me. I think that secret friend is going to be very fun I am glad that our mayor suggested to do secret friend because If she did not we would not be doing  secret friend I also think that it is a good way to show kindness by doing secret friend.

Houses

Today at school for our community project there was a store and we could use the money we earned to buy decorations for  our houses. Yael was my partner so me and Yael put our money together to buy a cup, plastic flowers, wallpaper, a welcome mat, pink and white fabric, a painting, a jewish star wreath, curtains, a rug, a tissue paper flower, a storage container, ribbons and a prehistoric marine animals poster. In two weeks it will be my two weeks but it is Yael’s week right now. We also had a one dollar sale after the shop. Maple Sugaring At The Audubon

Today we went to the Audubon to learn about maple sugaring. We learned the legend  of how sugaring started. We went outside to the sugar shack to see maple sap being cooked in to maple syrup. We ate pancakes with syrup at the end. We learned about spiles and made spile necklaces. Also we learned that maple trees have branches that look like arms and most trees do not. We did a test that had a corn syrup and maple syrup and we had to guess right.

Nonfiction

In reading and writing our unit is nonfiction. I want to write a book about opossums. In writing all of the books are by Gail Gibbbons but in reading the books are by many different people. Why I want to write about opossums is because I will have a lot of questions to research. Our mentor texts for reading are Follow  Your Dream The story of Chrishtopher Columbus, Nothing But Trouble The Story Of Althea Gibson, Pop The Invention Of Bubble Gum, Are You A grasshopper, Tell Me Tree and Look Out For Turtles. Mentor texts from writing are Sun Up Sun Down, Natures Green Umbrella, Caves And Caverns, Sunken Treasure, Zoo, Recycle, Bats, My Baseball Book, How A House Is Built and Planet Earth Inside Out. I love doing nonfiction because all the facts are true.
