Jewish Studies 4/3/2020

I drew this picture with different styles of the 4 characters and colors to show bad or good of them. The “yellowed” they are, the wiser they are. I have always thought of the kid who can’t ask exactly like a baby so I drew a baby for him. The wise one I made very yellow as I said why before. The evil kid I made darker to show how mean and evil he is. The innocent kid I made very small because he has a whole world of questions ahead of him. I hope you like the picture!

Shabbat Shalom!

JS 3/26/2020

These past few weeks have been horrible. Tom Hanks, Rudy Gobert, Donavon Mitchell, and KD and examples of people who have coronavirus which is unbearable. If only we could have stopped it before it closed our schools and people’s works. Now all that’s left is our houses which get very boring. Can’t wait until this is over.

Ester Chapter 6 and 7

The king wanted to give thanks to the Mordecai because he helped him not get killed. But Haman thought he was talking about him so he told him to give him the king’s horse and go around town being thanked. So Haman helped move the horse even though he hated Mordecai. Then Ester told the king about what Haman was planning to do, and the King hung Haman where they were going to hang Mordecai.

Purim SWBST- Chap. 4-5

Haman wanted to kill all the Jews on the 13th of Adar. But, Mordecai told Queen Ester and she told them to tear their clothes and fast for 3 days. So Mordecai convinced Queen Ester to tell the King that she would have a feast with him and Haman. Then Haman went home and his wife and friends told him the next day, he should tell the king to hang Mordecai on a 50 cubits high stake.

High Holidays Reflection

In the past few weeks, we have been in groups answering a question about the high holidays. My question was What is the difference between Yom Kippur Services then and now?

1. Why did I pick my topic? I didn’t this question as a yes on the sheet to sign up so I didn’t really want this one but it ended up being fun anyway.
2. What was the main idea that I learned that I did not know before? I truly didn’t know anything about this topic so I learned a lot of new things which was cool. Which means it was good that I didn’t get one that I picked on the sheet.
3. What did I find interesting and enjoyed doing my project? I thought it was really cool to see how Jews used to be in the Holy temple and what they did.
4. How did doing my project enhance or influence my high holiday experience? When I went to Yom Kippur I really imagined that I was at the Holy temple praying and it was very meaningful to me.

High Holiday Project Brainstorm

What do I know about my topic? Describe all the details, information, ideas that you do know. I don’t know anything about my topic so yeah.

What are 10 other questions I have that I need to research for a further study? What the services looked like? What’s the difference between now and then? And pretty much everything about this topic.

Where will I begin to look for those answers? I’m going to learn by rabbi’s online because I have done that before and it works.

What help do I need to move forward in my project? I need some background knowledge about this.

Experiential Exodus Reflection

I learned a lot of new things about the exodus. I didn’t know that there are so many more characters other than Moses and Pharoh. Prep was very rushed because we didn’t have a lot of time to prep so it was very hard to do. Because I was gone for the Experiential Exodus I couldn’t do any of it. Even though I wasn’t there, I have heard that it was fun even though we messed up a few times.

JSL Reflection

  • What did you learn about leadership from the Jewish Supreme Leader (JSL) election project?                                        I learned that people are leaders in different ways.
  • Through the stories of the leaders we studied, what are some positive ideas the Torah teaches us about leadership?                                                                                                                                                                                           Everybody makes mistakes.
  • What are some negative ideas the Torah teaches us about leadership?                                                                                  People still make mistakes.
  • If you could create the ideal JSL, what would that person be like their qualities, their personal story, their weaknesses? Why?                                                                                                                                                                               They would be a nice but savage talking pug that tries to take over the world.
  • How do you think leadership has changed from Torah times to modern times?  How is it still similar?                        Old ways to newer ways. It’s not very similar.
  • How does the JSL election change the way you think about leadership?  Why?                                                                   I didn’t know about a lot of the people and I thought it was only famous leaders until now.
