Timeline Reflection

What did you think of your finished product? I think that my finished timeline is very good and is what I wanted it to be like. Everyone else wanted to put actual pictures in except for me because I wanted to make it all drawings because from the timelines examples online that I saw, they were all drawings on the timeline.

How did this challenge you? I’m not very good at drawings but I still wanted to do the drawings anyway so that was my biggest problem. Also a few times I made some noticeable mistakes that I had to find out a way to fix them which was also very hard. Overall this wasn’t a very big challenge for me.

What was easy about this for you? I have some-what good handwriting so it was easy for people to be able to read my timeline. Even though my first few drawings were very hard after those they were very easy.

Dissecting Fish Reflection

  • What did you learn about the perch? The perch were very small but they had a lot more parts in their body than the sea lamprey. The perch had very rough skin and the color was a grayish color. They also had hearts that were the size of a pea and a greenish-grayish color. The perches insides were spread all over the place. The perches had big eyes and were very easy to see compared to the sea lamprey.
  • What did you learn about the sea lamprey? The sea lamprey were very weird. They were a light gray color and were very slimy. I noticed that they didn’t have hearts. They also had some very sharp teeth that were a bright red color. I also noticed that they didn’t have any eyes which made me wonder how they see or if they even need to see anything because they go onto to the fish and suck their blood to get food. The insides were also stuck together and way closer than the perch.

Lake Geneva Trip

What did you think about team building activities? They were fun but hard because most of the kids in my group I don’t usually hang out with. Because of that, I made a bunch of new friends on the trip.
How did your mindset change throughout the day? At the start of the day, I was very scared to go zip lining but eventually realized it would be very fun. And at the end of the day, I was so happy that I tried doing zip lining.
How did you feel as others cheered you on? I couldn’t really hear people cheer me on but, I cheered on others who I know where scared to make them feel better.
How did you feel before zip lining? After? Before zip lining, I was scared that I’d flop and get hurt. After zip lining, I realized that I had so much fun and if I didn’t do it I would have regretted not doing it.
What was fun? Exciting? The first time doing the zip line I was very scared even though I realized it was more fun than scary.
What was frustrating? Challenging? In the team-building challenges, some of the people wouldn’t listen to me and others even though I was talking to them. So next time I would try to stand up even more than last time and make sure that they listened to the whole group.
Was it what you expected? Yes- why? No- what was different? Yes, I was expecting team-building like it was and the zip lining being very scary.
Would you do it again? Why? No, I feel like if I did it again I would be bored next time because it would be the same thing.

ETC challenges

What were your biggest takeaways (biggest ideas/thoughts) from these challenges?

That these challenges are a lot harder this year than last year. Or maybe it’s because when we were 5th graders the 6th graders took over and now that’s our job.

What was challenging about these challenges? My groups where with people I’m usually not with. And because of that, we had some troubles.
What was comfortable about these challenges? I always say that ideas are easiest because I always like to imagine ideas before we do the work so I have a bunch of ideas.
How did you work in a team? Because I’m usually not with these people it was very challenging to work together. Some of the kids liked to mess around which made it harder too.
What were your areas of strength as a group? We all had very good ideas. And a lot of our ideas were very similar which made it easy to make our big idea for our challenge.
What were your areas of growth as a group? All of my groups had a least 2 people that where getting distracted or not helping with the group.
What did you enjoy about these challenges? Why? I liked trying to do the challenges and F.A.I.L.ing and then trying again. It was fun because we were always so close before it broke and we got to try different ideas because of this.
What was frustrating? Why? When our ideas broke at the last second. A few times we would be done then at the last second it would break and we wouldn’t have a model of the challenge answer.

Science This Week

  • What challenge excited you the most? Why? The paper tower challenge. It was the only challenge where we had to make up the whole idea like in Save Fred we had some background knowledge of what was going on. Also, are ideas kept breaking down and we finished with a half-built tower. But if we didn’t need to stop then we would have finished with a very big tower.

  • What was difficult about the challenges? Making our ideas. It was easy to make the ideas but when we had to make the idea it didn’t work out like how we thought it would. Also, some of the ideas were hard to do in under 15 minutes (Paper Tower Challenge). But in the end, it ended up working anyway because our tower was still pretty tall anyways.

  • What was comfortable about the challenges? Making ideas and being in a group. It was very easy to make ideas because before we start I think about some good ideas before we start. I always enjoy being in a group and I was put with people I am usually not with, but even though I’m usually not with them, we still all worked very good together. And had a lot of fun.

High Holiday Project Brainstorm

What do I know about my topic? Describe all the details, information, ideas that you do know. I don’t know anything about my topic so yeah.

What are 10 other questions I have that I need to research for a further study? What the services looked like? What’s the difference between now and then? And pretty much everything about this topic.

Where will I begin to look for those answers? I’m going to learn by rabbi’s online because I have done that before and it works.

What help do I need to move forward in my project? I need some background knowledge about this.

6th One Pager Reflection

  1. Explain the five choices you made on your one-pager and how they show your comprehension of the book or what you learned from the book.                                                                                                                                                          My first choice was to make a border with the names of the main characters. I chose this because they are the main part of the story. The next one I chose was to have a border with the main parts of the story and some of there personality traits. I chose this because if you didn’t know that Theo Boone was 12 it wouldn’t make a lot of sense. My third one was to draw the key characters and how the change and interact. I chose this because each one of the people had a part to figure out if Pete Duffy was guilty or innocence. My next one was the main part of the story which was the gloves, it’s the way that the learned that Pete Duffy was guilty. My last one was I put a few quotes that are important to the story. I chose these ones because these where the ones that stood out to me.
  2. Explain two pieces of textual evidence from your map, and why you choose that text for your one-pager.                   My first quote is “He did smile at here, though, but she did not return the smile. Her teeth were somewhere in the house.” I love this quote because its Pete Duffy before he killed his wife. and it really says did”n’t” and its crost off in the book. My second one is “You’re a good Lawyer Theo.” even though he is a 12-year-old he acts like a 30-year-old and he gets a lot of respect for being so smart instead of being bullied.
