Welcome to the 7th and 8th grade science classrooms at Milwaukee Jewish Day School!    This blog is a place for you to experience the learning that is taking place in science class.  Here students and I will share ideas, connect with each other, and document and reflect upon our learning.

In this classroom we:

  • Develop a sense of curiosity and wonder about the natural world
  • Readily express ideas and opinions
  • Develop a deeper sense of empathy to guide our actions regarding environmental and social issues
  • Know that learning science is an active process
  • Learn how to think about and solve complex scientific problems
  • Become effective communicators through work in collaborative teams
  • Understand that mistakes are valued and necessary for learning
  • Become stewards of the earth (tikkun olam)

Learning is messy. It involves stepping outside of your comfort zone,  taking risks, trying new things, making mistakes, trying again, and changing our perspectives.  Therefore, at times, the work showcased here will be “a work in progress” or illustrate the process of learning and, at other times, will show a final product.  Enjoy what you see and feel free to comment!
