High Holiday Reflection

1. Why did I pick my topic?

Because I thought it was interesting, and I need to know more about forgiveness

2. What was the main idea that I learned that I did not know before?

How to forgive when it was a bad sin.

3. What did I find interesting and enjoy about doing my project?

I learned some cool stories

4. How did doing my project enhance or influence my high holiday experience?

I felt like I knew more

Zip lining

Yesterday I went zip lining at lake geneva. When I got there I did some team building. First, we tried to make a high score by making it so everybody touched the ball in a specific order.  Then we swung on a rope trying to get everyone to the other side. We ate lunch and had fun zip lining. When the big zip line came I was scared because it was 70 ft. in the air, but Gev. Mcfallin (my teacher’s nickname) told me it was going to be fun. When I jumped I saw what she meant. My friends cheered me on and I had so much fun I wanted to do it again. I hope I can do it again.

Science This Week

  • What challenge excited you the most? Why?

The Penny Challenge and the Paper tower Challenge excited me because I like building things.

  • What was difficult about the challenges?

Most of my team’s ideas did not work because we used our resources incorrectly. EX: we bent out the paper clips and we could not bend it back.

  • What was comfortable about the challenges?

They were not too hard, and I had a team to help me.

  • What is something you want to work on moving forward?

Think my plan through a little more, and don’t use all my resources at the same time.

  • What are you looking forward to this year in science?

Having fun learning!

Summer Reading Book

My summer reading book is: The Kane Chronicles and The red Pyramid. The character I will be using is Carter Kane. Here is a summary of the part of the book that I will be writing this to hime in: Carter travels around the world with his dad. Carter had just found out that his parents (his mom died) practiced magic and his dad did a spell at a British museum and he tried to summon a god but got captured by a evil god in the process. Now he is getting questioned by a investigator.  I will be Doing the following, in this blog post:

Dear Carter, how are you doing. Where are you going on your next trip? I just started school. Did you know I just started upper school. I am in fifth grade. have you seen your sister yet. Where does she go to school?? I am going to play basket ball. Write me back.

Reflection (Editorial)

The most important things I learned about writing editorials is that making an editorial is complicated. You have to do the research, make sure when you write it is in your own words, and edit.

One important thing I learned about researching this topic is there is not a lot of counter arguments, but there are some.

If I had to teach someone how to write an editorial, 2 tips I would give them would be: Try to find the true information, and put the editorial in your own words and when you do not, put “.

Student Led Conferences

At student led conferences I went through my Writers Workshop stuff, my Readers Workshop stuff and my Math stuff. Me and my teacher talked about how I need to slow down and take my time. We also talked about that I need to ask a teacher for help when I need it instead of just sitting there getting the problem wrong. In readers workshop I need to work on writing a variety of responses.  I kind of like being in charge of my conferences because it’s kind of hard but I like that I get to tell my parents what I am working on.

After Math Test Review

On my math test I got 15 out of 23. My study plan was to slow down and read the questions. Most of the test I slowed down and the questions that i went slow on I got correct.  On the questions I got wrong I rushed through them.  I tried my best when I corrected it. If I could do something differently it would be to copy out of someones notebook because I was sick when we wrote some of the important things in our notebook that was on the test.  I could also slow down by spending more time on each problem.

What were 2-3 interesting things you learned from your buddy at Ovation Sarah Chudnow?

I learned: There weren’t a lot of camps and schools in MKE, more people lived in the east and not the west.

What did you enjoy about your conversation?

It was an interesting conversation.

What was hard about your conversation?

Nothing

What would you do differently if we went back again?

Nothing

If you had a chance to ask additional questions, what are two more questions you would ask your person, based on what you learned about them?

Did anything interesting happen in your life time?? When you were younger did you have a bike??

What did you learn about Jewish Milwaukee or general Milwaukee history from your conversation?

There has been a lot of synagogue.
