Candling Our Eggs – 5th Science

Today was the tenth day of our eggs in our incubator – which meant it was time to candle the eggs to see if they were fertilized and if a chick was growing inside of them!

This was such an exciting experience! We were able to see some of the veins and arteries of our chicks, as well as the air bubbles in the eggs which allows the chicks to breathe – SERIOUSLY SO COOL!

We were also thrilled to find out after checking each egg that 10 out of our 13 eggs appeared to be fertilized!

The 5th graders did an absolutely wonderful job with this experience and we are crossing our fingers in hope that some of our fertilized eggs will hatch!

Stay tuned for more updates on our chicks,

Gev. McAdams

This is the kind of learning experience that students will remember. So authentic and powerful!
