Og’s Great Adventure Reflection

  • What did you notice or observe during the challenge?

There were a lot of links hidden and not hidden under pictures and things like that.

  • What kind of questions did you ask yourself (meta)?

Where are the links? What are the answers?

  • When did you first begin drawing connections between the different puzzles and pictures?

when I saw the letters with the dinosaurs pictures and then saw a secret link and saw a bunch of dinosaur pictures and thought we had to uncover what it meant.

  • What were those connections?                                                                                                                                                                                         The letter lock that we had to unscramble our letters because we had the right letters but not the right spelling.

  • What were your biggest clues?                                                                                                                                                                                          When our friend helped us out with one of the lock combinations.

  • What was the most challenging?

The letter lock because it took us like 10-15 minutes to figure out you had to uncover all the letters to show the question that we had to answer for the 9 letter lock answer.

  • What was your biggest ah-ha moment? Why?

The biggest AH-HA moment was when we figured out the 9 letter lock answer and we finished.

Reflecting on Clue

  • What thinking moves did you use when playing this game (questioning, connecting, listening, observing, deducing, reasoning, etc?   When someone guessed a card they had to trick people it worked.

  • How did organizing your information impact your experience playing the game?                                                                                              It didn’t really impact anything including my gameplay.

  • Where else do you use these thinking skills (at school, at home, on sports teams, etc)?                                                                                    At home, if I play other games.

  • When might you need this kind of thinking?                                                                                                                                                                estimation at school.

Playing Clue

  • What did you notice or observe during the game? It was hard for me to not tell my cards I wanted to say them out loud.
  • What kind of questions did you ask yourself (meta)? Is this a good desition? Are these the winning cards?

When did you first begin drawing connections between different characters, clues, pieces of information?  When all the wepons were gone.

  • What were those connections?  The right wepon, person, and room.
  • What were your biggest clues? When someone said “I got two cards right.”
  • What information seems most important to collect? Who did it? With what wepon? Where?

*What is the difference between an observation and information? Observation: What you see. Iformation: when you know something for a fact.

Rapunzel Planning Reflection

How did spending more time on planning improve your final blueprint? It helped because we  could add more detail to our planning and final idea for our project.

How did your group come to one final plan after brainstorming several ideas? We came to a final verdict easily because we all liked this idea and think it will be fun to make.

Why do you think taking more time to plan was important? I think it is important beacause it gave us more time to genarate more ideas for our project.

Did brainstorming with multiple people help you come up with more ideas? How? Yes, it did because we all had different ideas and point of veiws so it helped but we also added same ideastogether to get the one we are doing.

What would you differently during the planning process next time? I wouldn’t do anything different because it went good because we thought of plenty of ideas if we faught it was a productive kind of fighting (but we didn’t fight at all).

Cereal Box Challenge

Today’s Challenge: Create a new kind of cereal and its box. Using a piece of poster board, you and your team need to create your own box, with the goal of having the largest possible volume.

Teamwork Rubric Focus (Participation):

My goal for participation today within my team is to be kind and listen to everyone.

My Individual Plan <insert photo of sketch and/or type out the plan>

Why I think my plan will be successful:

I think it will work because it will stay and will be big hopefully.

Our Group’s Plan <insert photo or sketch and/or type out a plan>

We are going to make something like a Sendiks paper bag because it will be simple and hopefully work.

We chose this plan because it is sturdy and big and that’s what we’re going for.

Possible challenges that may come up during construction not having enough time and tape.

Each team member will be responsible for cutting tape, folding, and everyone will be drawing.

After the Build

<insert photo of completed cereal box>

Our design worked well because it held its shape and it was easy to draw on.

This activity was challenging because some of the tape wasn’t sticking to the poster board.

This activity was comfortable because our design didn’t take super long so we got to start to decorate super fast.

I met my teamwork participation goal by listening to others ideas when we were brainstorming and during the prosses as well. I also met my other goal by doing my other goal.

A strength of my team was communicating with each other.

An area of growth for my team is decision making.

For our next challenge, my new teamwork participation goal for myself is still listening.

Index Card Challenge

Today’s Challenge: Using only an index card and scissors find a way to cut your index card so you can fit your entire body through it.

Teamwork Rubric Focus (Organization/Planning):

My goal for organization/planning today within my team is to keep the stuff that goes in one thing they go in a pile.

My Individual Plan <insert photo of sketch and/or type out a plan>

Why I think my plan will be successful: it will hopefully keep a good hold so someone can get through it.

Our Group’s Plan <insert photo or sketch and/or type out a plan>

We chose this plan because it is the simplest so if we mess up we will have enough time to redo it.

Possible challenges that may come up during construction is it not working.

Each team member will be responsible for cutting slits, constructing and testing.

After the Build

Our design worked well because it got 95% up their body.

This activity was challenging because it broke when they moved their hands o it would work better but it backfired and it fell apart.

This activity was comfortable because of some of my group members they made it more comfortable.

I met my teamwork organization/planning goal by we kept the stuff that went together in one spot.

A strength of my team was deciding on an idea.

An area of growth for my team is getting everyone to participate.

For our next challenge, my new teamwork organization/planning goal for myself is to keep everything organized and have a hard plan.

Newspaper Shoe Challenge

Today’s Challenge: Using only newspaper, 24 inches of tape, and one scissors, you and your partner need to create one shoe that fits either you or your partner’s foot. The shoe must be able to come on and off without falling apart.

Teamwork Rubric Focus:

My goal for communication today within my team is to not take over and stand back a little but still to participate in the challenge.

My Individual Plan <insert photo of sketch and/or type out a plan>

My plan is to make a Birkenstock it is a shoe that has a base and has two straps over the top to secure the feet inside the shoe so you can walk maybe not run but can still function in them.

Why I think my plan will be successful: I think my plan will be successful because it will hold the foot and you will be able to slide the foot in and out with no worry.

Our Group’s Plan <insert photo or sketch and/or type out a plan>

Our plan is to make a slide shoe and we are using the biggest foot and it will be more simple than a normal shoe.

We chose this plan because it was the simplest to make and it worked it stayed together and we could walk in it.

Possible challenges that may come up during construction running out of tape or time.

Each partner will be responsible for different jobs the jobs were taping, tracing, and wearing. My jobs were taping and wearing.

After the Build

<insert photo of completed shoe>

Our design worked well because it stayed on our foot and we could walk in it.

This activity was challenging because getting the tracing right the first or second time so we had more time to tape, size, and test.

This activity was comfortable because the shoe we made was pretty comfortable to make, test with, and easy to fix if the tape unstuck.

I met my teamwork communication goal by letting my groupmates talk.

A strength of my partnership was that we worked fast but not fast enough to have to much time left if we wanted to make another shoe.

An area of growth for my partnership is not rushing if we know we still have plenty of time left.

For our next challenge, my new teamwork communication goal for myself is listening.

Cup Holder Challange

Today’s Challenge: Using only provided materials ( 6 straws, 1 piece of paper, a piece of tinfoil, 12 inches of masking tape, 2 paperclips, 2 pieces of string, 1 envelope, and 2 pipe cleaners)  create a structure that holds two cups as high as possible and as far apart as possible.

Teamwork Rubric Focus:

My goal for participation today while working in my group is not to take the lead and stay calm if something bad happens.

My Individual Plan <insert photo of sketch and/or type out plan>

My plan is to rip the paper in half and take the pipecleaners and tape them to the bottom of the paper on both sides and make that a structure put 1 of the 2 cups on that then go the same thing with the other half of the paper but with straws then take the envolelope and cut that in half and tape it to the tog of the structure take string take like 4 pieces and tape them across the evolope and put the last cup on top of that and it’s tall and the cups are far apart and hopefully will stay.

Why I think my plan will be successful:  think it will work because it will give enough support to hold the cup up off the ground.

My Groups Plan

We chose this plan because it used the least amount of materials so we could use the extras for extra support to add on to our idea.

Possible challenges that may come up during construction are probably not enough tape of run out of time or run out of a spesific material that we need.

Each group member will be responsible for tapeing, cutting, and building.

After the Build

Our design worked well because it held up 1 cup and was very far apart witch were the things we had to acomplish in this chalenge.

This activity was challenging because we had to use our tape supply good so we had enough for the whole challenge.

This activity was comfortable because it was pretty quick to decide on a plan.

I met my participation goal by not taking the lead and sometimes steping back to share the responibilty with my groupmates and it was surprisingly comfortable in my opion.

A strength of my team was we worked pretty well together during the challenge.

An area of growth for my team is comunication for sure and more of shareing the lead.

For our next challenge, my new participation goal for myself is the same goal because it might depend on the people I work with on these challenges.
