As I wandered the halls of MJDS this week, a visit to the 8th grade Genius Hour blew my mind. Two students were deep into their learning journey; refurbishing a six-year old desktop computer. Through the utilization of our guardrails (Documentation, Reflection, Questioning, Feedback and Self-Monitoring/Assessment) and the support of our incredible faculty, these students were finding and solving problems that mattered to them. This is true student-owned learning.
That’s really cool! I hope they blog about their process. What a great learning experience! I imagine a lot of research and time went into it.
