My Plague: Boils

 

Today my group worked on brainstorming ideas for our rube Goldberg. Our ideas include a pully, a pool ball going down a track, a pool ball going down a tube.

 

 

The part of this assignment that I think will be most challenging is building it because a lot of things can fall down.

 

I read through the rubric and here are my questions: I don’t have any.

 

Next steps for my group include more brainstorming.

 

Materials I need to start gathering are big tubes.

Think about a book you’re reading now or one you’ve read recently. What type of conflict occurred in the story? 

Character vs self because (spoilers for the hunger games) when Prim is chosen to go to the hunger games her sister Katniss has to decide if she is going to volunteer as tribute or not.

How did it move the rest of the story along?

Katniss is in the hunger games and she has to survive.

 

Was the conflict resolved? How? If not, how do you think it will be resolved?

Tt wasn’t yet, but I think that Katniss will win the hunger games.

boat day 1

Today we are starting our boat challenge and we are collecting materials for the rubber band boat that we are making.

Gev. Clyde will be bringing the pint-sized milk carton.

materials: basin, milk carton, 2 chopsticks, scissors, tape, rubber bands, paper towels.

today we got the rubber bands and the chopsticks.

We wanted to get the scissors and tape but we have to get them tomorrow.

tomorrow we need the tape, scissors, and pint-sized milk carton.

  1. Clean chicken- all powder must be removed from inside and outside of the chicken.
    1. What does your chicken look like? Be descriptive and insert a picture here. The inside is all stretchy like string cheese. And the outside is super dry and tender. it looks like if you peed on a dehydrated chicken and it started bleeding
    2. What are the most significant changes since day 1? SUPER TENDER AND DRY. Like a super dry raisin. Colors are different. Before it was all a tan color, but now its red, yellow, and brown. You can even see the spine now. Before the inside looked like the inside of a chicken. but Now the inside is stringy.
    3. Do you think the changes are realistic to the changes you would see in an actual mummy? Why or why not? Yes, it is really dry and a real mummy after 40 days should be dry.

  1. Gather and prepare supplies for stuffing and wrapping your chicken (1 metal tin for mixing glue, 1 metal tin to keep your chicken in)
    1. What supplies did you gather today? Glue, water, and gauze
    2. What measurements did you use for your gauze? One foot long strips and cut them in half.
    3. How are you making sure each group member is included today? We are all doing something MT was cutting the gauze AK was putting the gauze in the glue. And GK was wrapping the chicken with gauze.

    1. How many pieces of gauze did you need? 24
    2. How much glue did you use? How much water did you add? We used 3 cups of glue and 1 cup of water
    3. Did you put anything into your chicken? If so, what and how much? We put sawdust inside the chicken until we couldn’t put more.

Instead of wrapping around the chicken with the gauze, we laid the gauze on it and GK accidentally pulled one piece of the gauze out and the whole thing shifted off and that sucked.
